The Land Cookery Competition

  • North Sydney Community Centre 220 Miller Street North Sydney, NSW, 2060 Australia (map)

Everyone is welcome to attend our Land Cookery Day on Saturday, February 12. It will be held at North Sydney Community Centre (220 Miller St) from 2-5pm.

The annual Land Cookery Competition has been sponsored by The Land newspaper since it was first held 52 years ago. There are 10 sections this year: fruit cakes, butter cakes, scones, biscuits & shortbreads, lamingtons, iced & decorated cakes, steamed plum puddings, jam & sweet mustard pickles, date & walnut roll and a special section for young competitors.

“It’s the CWA of NSW’s 100th anniversary this year, so we’re hoping for record entries,” says Sydney City branch Cookery Officer, Kaye McIntyre. “And you don’t have to be a CWA member to enter – the competition is open to all.” If you have a question, email cwasydneycookery@gmail.com

For more information, check out the link under ‘Handmade’, then ‘The Land Cookery Competition’.

Winners from the branch judging will then be judged at CWA Group level and the winners from there will go on to the State finals at the CWA’s centenary conference in May.
